Office Assistant


Job Description
  • Assist the director in planning/executing athletics, intramurals, fitness, and outdoor adventures events & programs
  • Market and promote the department in forms of tabling and flyering
  • Aid in researching new initiatives, partnerships, and opportunities for the Department of Athletics and Recreation
  • Answer questions from in-person visits or over the phone regarding departmental programming
  • Facilitate group fitness classes (open room, collect waivers, take accurate attendance, first responder, liaison between director and fitness instructor)
  • Guide outdoor adventure excursions (if qualified)
  • Manage, move, and store equipment and sales inventories
  • Maintain database of participants
  • Organize and preserve an orderly office and work environment
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • Shifts are Mon-Fri 10am-noon and 2-4pm; must be available for 4 shifts/week/semester (can be assigned up to 1-3 shifts/week)
  • Fitness Classes are typically Mon-Fri 10am-1pm and 5-9pm; must be available for at least 4 classes/week (can be assigned up to 4 classes/week)
  • Good Customer Service skills
  • Personable, reliable, responsible
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and safely
  • Can work independently with little supervision

  • Ability to carry 40 pounds

Intramural Official


Job Description
  • Assist with event set-up and break down
  • Collect waivers, take accurate attendance, and act as first responder
  • Officiate games such as basketball, soccer, volleyball, and dodgeball
  • Keep score of games, take note of MVPs and of unruly participants
  • Ability to carry 40 pounds

Required Qualifications
  • Must be available Wednesdays 7-9:30pm and Fridays 5;30-9pm
  • Knowledge of a variety of sports including basketball, soccer, volleyball, and dodgeball

Graphic Designer


Job Description
  • Design print/promotional materials such flyers, posters, and postcards
  • Create artwork for the web and recreational facilities
  • Design creative and unique t-shirts with 1-color, 2-color, 3-color and full color options

  • Efficient with Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Ability to layout images and text in a visually appealing way that’s also informative
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment, handle multiple tasks, and complete tasks quickly and effectively

Job Description
  • Take photos at events such as athletic contests and practices, intramural games, group fitness classes, special events, and outdoor adventures
  • Capture the diverse student body that participates in our programming through candids, action shots and portraits
  • Save photos to flash drives provided by a department using a naming scheme determined by the director
  • Upload photos to Facebook and Flickr in a timely manor

Required Qualifications
  • Must have a DSLR camera with various lenses and memory cards
  • Personable, reliable, responsible
  • Flexible schedule to cover evening and weekend programs/events as well as fitness classes that go on throughout the day and submit photos in a timely manor
  • Proficient in action shots, candid’s, portraits, micro, and landscape

Copy Writer


Job Description
  • Attend events such as athletic contests and practices, intramural games, group fitness classes, special events, and outdoor adventures
  • Interview participants and capture accurate information
  • Gather information regarding the history/background of the event
  • Write articles summarizing the events including quotes from participants and staff, outcomes, follow-up events (if applicable), some history of the event, etc.
  • Submit articles to director within 24 hours of the conclusion of the event

Required Qualifications
  • Personable, reliable, responsible
  • Flexible schedule to cover evening and weekend programs/events as well as fitness classes that go on throughout the day and to submit copy in a timely manor
  • Must have a strong handle on the English language including grammar and vocabulary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Perform in a full costume as “Gnarls the Narwhal” at school functions such as Block Party, Commencement, Bring your Son/Daughter to Work Day, basketball games, alumni events

  • Assist in creating routines for promotional entertainment
  • Distribute promotional items and information

    Employers may not be able to ask you about your religious or ethnic background to discriminate against you but they may be getting that information from your social media profiles instead. While there are company policies in place that may prevent employers from asking these questions in an interview, these policies may not include employers being able to retrieving this information online. Check out results from the Carnegie Mellon University and see how an experiment involving dummy résumés and social media profiles found how firms might discriminate against applicants.     Internships: The Weinstein Company looking for Post Production Interns!







    The Weinstein Company is looking for interns for their upcoming spring semester for their post production department! More importantly they are looking to start the interview process within the next two weeks!




    Description:

    The Weinstein Company – Post Production department welcomes candidates to apply for internship opportunities for the Spring 2014 semester.  This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in a career as a producer or post-production supervisor.  Past experience in Post Production is not required, however ideal candidates are those that are passionate about the post production process of film and television.

    Interns will have an opportunity to work directly with the post team attending post meetings and shadowing the Post Production Coordinator who is responsible for distributing all kinds of media to various departments and films in production.  Interns can expect to get first – hand experience with the entire post process from receiving dailies from production up to delivery of the final film.

    Students may receive a stipend, or college credit. We are looking for a 2 day a week minimum, 10am-7pm.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    Must be currently enrolled and able to show proof of enrollment.  College credit is available.

    Must have excellent references.

    Internship Spotlight: United Nations Internships in New York!






    VGIF is an international fund that provides small grants for grassroots projects that empower women and girls in developing countries.  VGIF is in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the Department of Public Information (DPI) at the United Nations.  VGIF is seeking interns/volunteers to give 15 hours per week in the areas of data gathering, writing, monitoring UN and NGO calendars of events and meetings, and attending meetings of UN bodies and NGOs at and around the UN in New York. 




    Such volunteers, along with the VGIF Main Representatives to ECOSOC and DPI will constitute the VGIF Team of Representatives at the UN.  The Main Representatives are responsible for reporting to the VGIF Board of Directors through its UN Committee, President and Executive Director.



    Dates of service are from late January through December 2014, with the opportunity to continue through the next Commission of the Status of Women (CSW).

    The position is an uncompensated, voluntary position; some funds are available for expenses in connection with events and limited local travel. Credit may be available through your university. Please check with them directly for requirements.

    Flexible hours:Because students and volunteers have specific issues around classes, exams and other school-related, family and community commitments, we are aware of the need to schedule volunteer somewhat flexible hours. However, it must be possible for the accepted candidate(s) to attend a major portion of the CSW 58 (March 10 – March 21, 2014).

    Qualifications:

    ·       Passionate about women’s global concerns, including issues affecting girls
    ·       Commitment to the internship 
        Self-starter, self-directed and goal-oriented
        Team player, comfortable with a collaborative work environment
        Well-organized; Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    ·       Recommended by at least one teacher/professor and one non-profit official or volunteer coordinator
    ·       We expect this voluntary commitment to be managed as one would manage a paid work commitment

    Responsibilities may include the following, but will be negotiated with each person accepted according to interests and time available:

    ·       Time to attend training and participate in scheduled meetings
    ·       Data collection: Sources to include the UN website,  NGO postings, NGO Committee sites and new articles to advise the Team about meetings at and around the UN and to provide briefing papers about issues related to women’s issues and development
    ·       Writing reports of meetings; articles for various publications of VGIF; and other assignments
    ·       Monitoring the UN Journal and developing a calendar of assignments/events
    ·       Attending meetings at the UN on issues of interest to VGIF; attending meetings of NGO committees; writing brief summaries about such meetings; following up where it is in VGIF’s interest to be part of the process
    ·       Reports to:  Main representative of VGIF for ECOSOC or DPI and the VGIF Program Director
